The Bombay Bicycle Club, along with Cronometro and Harbor Athletic Club, presents BCETS: a series of seminars and coached training rides designed to help participants prepare for challenging events such as the Horribly Hilly Hundreds (HHH), Insane Terrain, Dairyland Dare, Wright Stuff Century, or Ironman Wisconsin. The program focuses on the HHH, and is timed to peak your fitness for that event. Most of the training rides will take place on portions of the HHH course.
The program will begin with an orientation seminar on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 25, followed by weekly indoor spinning sessions through February and the first half of March. Outdoor training rides will take place (weather permitting) every Saturday morning from March 5 through June 11. We will conclude with a party on the day after the HHH. We will also have periodic seminars/workshops dealing with topics such as bicycle fit and maintenance, hill-climbing techniques, how to prepare a training plan and schedule, proper nutrition and pacing for a long ride, etc.
The program costs $100 for Bombay members and $140 for non-members. To become a Bombay member ($20), go to http://bombaybicycle.org/ and click on “Online Membership” or “Download Membership Form” over on the right. To register for BCETS, go to http://www.zapevent.com/ListActivities.aspx?eventid=1231.

Next year is a transition year for the Bombay Bicycle Club as some long time board members are retiring in the fall of 2011. At the recent fall meeting, membership voted to increase board seats from 8 to 12 to develop new leaders to overlap with outgoing board members. In addition, the Club needs people interested to participate on the following:
- Merchandise (shirts, socks, etc.) - assist marketing and distribution
- Wright Stuff Century 2011 – committee opportunities are available
- Rides – assist map updates and/or volunteer to lead a ride
- Great Dane Rides bicycling guide – update and reprint guide (last updated 2005)
The more volunteers we have the stronger and better the Club will be. Please contact Greg Hyer (grhyer@tds.net) indicating your interest in serving on a committee and what skills or interests you have.

Help update Bombay Bicycle Club’s ride maps
Our computer generated ride maps need updating to keep pace with transportation route changes, new bicycling ride options, and safety issues related to increased vehicular traffic on established routes. Web access and download capability for our ride maps are priorities. Work to provide GPS coordinate information is underway. If you have the skills or interest to be involved, please contact Greg Hyer (grhyer@tds.net).
Great Dane Rides - the 3rd edition is pending!
Bike shops and book stores are eagerly awaiting our updated guide book. The 2nd edition was published in 2005. Volunteers are needed in many areas to help produce the updated 3rd edition. Please contact Greg Hyer (grhyer@tds.net) for additional information.

The inaugural Don Michalski Volunteer Leadership Award was presented to Don Michalski at the November 21, 2010 membership meeting. Don is stepping down this fall 2010 as Bombay Bicycle Club Membership Chair, a position he has held for more than fifteen years. He joined BBC in 1975, one year after the Club was founded. Don has served as Ride Chair, Secretary, and Membership Chair (at times) over the last 35 years.
This last year, and for many years, Don has led at least three annual rides. His favorite ride has been renamed the Don Michalski Freedom Train Ride. Don will lead the ride, held annually on the July 4th weekend, in 2011. He will also continue to organize Wright Stuff Century SAG support.

Wright Stuff Century 2010
Thank you for sharing this classic fall century ride with us. Survey responses were numerous, thoughtful, and appreciated! Here is a sampling of rider’s responses:
LOVED the ride. The route is not only gorgeous, but on quiet and very scenic roads. A great “wind-down” ride for the season. Hilly, but not too hilly. I’d do this ride again and again and again! Thank you so much!
